I was initially pleased when it came to my attention that a company called Premiere had started operating their X1 service, which serves roughly the same route as the incumbent TrentBarton’s Radcliffe Line. While TrentBarton operates a very good service, I felt that a little bit of competition on the route would ensure that prices remained competitive. (more…)

How Improvement Works
Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008In the past, when I’ve had occasion to travel between Grantham and Radcliffe-on-Trent, the journey has been straightforward. Board a train at Grantham; get off at Radcliffe station about half an hour later. Sadly, this journey is no longer quite as simple as it should be, thanks to a series of ‘improvements’ made by the train operator, East Midlands Trains. (more…)
